CeraVe Retinol Serum for Post-Acne Marks!

Published by Products We Love on

Our last review covered the Mighty Patch, which, as we discussed, is a remarkable product for eliminating acne and zits! While the Mighty Patch works wonders on the actual whiteheads and pimples, anytime you have a zit, it takes some time for the skin to heal. Often, acne marks can take weeks or even months to heal on their own. As most dermatologists will tell you, Retinol can work wonders on helping your skin’s tone and texture and help speed the healing process along. So, we put CeraVe’s Retinol Serum to the test!

What is Retinol?

Retinol is a retinoid, which is a derivative of Vitamin A. It is generally available both as an over-the-counter (OTC) product or it can be prescribed by a doctor. OCT products can contain up to 2% retinol. It works by penetrating the layers of the skin and converts from the retinol topical substance to retinoic acid in the body.

As retinoic acid, it promotes cell turnover and helps slow the breakdown of collagen. For acne marks, that cell turnover is critical, and it helps even the skin’s tone, color, and surface back to its pre-acne self! For those who are beyond their acne years, Retinol can be a valuable tool to help fight wrinkles, age spots, and other signs of aging.

Why CeraVe?

If you have a teenager, you have most certainly heard of CeraVe. They’ve done a great job marketing and have become quite popular with influencers on TikTok and other platforms. While we have used several of their products, they have only been average so far. When our teens suggested yet another CeraVe product, we were a bit unsure, but given its high review scores, we wanted to give it a try.

Why Do We Like It?

When we first tried it, we did like the feel. CeraVe has created a lightweight gel that absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel greasy. While we used our retinol serum only at night, you could easily wear it during the day. Keep in mind, however, that Retinol can cause sun sensitivity, so if you use it during the day, take care to stay out of the sun or combine it with a strong SPF.

The other thing we liked is that the product is fragrance-free, paraben-free, and non-comedogenic. We used it for our girls and our son, and they all liked the product from the very first night.

But Why Do We LOVE It?

Let’s face it, there’s a big difference between like and love, and we LOVE CeraVe’s Retinol Serum! Simply put, it works! From the very first night, our skin was less red, the darker spots started to fade, and the unevenness of the texture started to smooth. After one week, the improvement was even more pronounced. Simply put, the teens all loved the serum and use it as needed.

So, if you’ve tried the Mighty Patch and are ready to help your skin heal, we think that CeraVe’s Retinol Serum is the perfect compliment! We found the best deal possible, and you can order it for yourself right here!
